Cade Dillard earns $2,000 Modified victory in Wild West Shootout opener

Hauling both his Super Late Model and Modified out to the desert, Cade Dillard checked into Central Arizona Raceway (Case Grande, Ariz.) on Saturday afternoon to kick off the 20th-annual Wild West Shootout.

Dillard stormed from 10th-to-1st in his Modified heat race and started on the point of the 25-lap feature event where raced the checkered flag ahead of Reece Solander and Tanner Mullens. He picked up a $2,000 payday and his first WWS triumph of the event.

In the $25,000 Late Model opener, Dillard started 16th and charged forward in the 50-lap main event to land on the podium in third. He trailed Ricky Thornton Jr. and Hudson O'Neal while Ryan Gustin and Mike Marlar completed the Top-5.

On Sunday, Cade did not have the same luck as the night prior, failing to finish his Late Model heat race after being the victim of a rough slider. In the Modified, Dillard was disqualified during technical inspection.
