With the 124-car field divided into two groups for a pair of $12,000-to-win preliminary features, Dillard edged his way the show with a fourth-place finish in his heat race. Carrying a steady pace for all 25 laps, Cade posted a 16th-place finish.
Later Thursday night for heat races leading up to the Eldora Million, Cade was involved in a five-car tangle that brought an early end to his evening.
On Friday afternoon as the 28th annual Dirt Late Model Dream got underway with a pair of prelims, Dillard’s seventh-to-fifth run in his heat race locked his spot into the $12,000-to-win preliminary feature. Clawing forward one spot in the 25-lap affair, Cade logged a 16th-place outing.
Following an 11th-place finish in his heat race on Saturday evening, Cade decided to scratch from his B-Main for one last shot at $128,000-to-win after being pinned near the tail.
