Bad luck resurfaces in Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain

On Saturday afternoon the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series picked back up at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the ninth annual Tennessee Tipoff. With 51 Late Models on hand, Cade Dillard laid down the third fastest time in his qualifying group before placing second in his heat behind Ricky Thornton Jr. Earning the 11th-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Dillard was collected with another competitor on sixth lap that forced him to retire early with heavy damage to his nose.
