Dillard Begins Wild West Shootout at Arizona Speedway

Cade Dillard returned to action on Saturday evening at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) for the 14th annual Wild West Shootout. In a stout field of 46 Super Late Models, Dillard followed up the second fastest lap in his time trial group with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Brian Birkhofer. Slated to start the opening night feature in 11th, Cade suffered a broken right-rear wheel hub during pace laps that prevented him from starting the 30-lapper.

The following night, Cade jumped out to an early lead in his heat race but a broken belt sent him pitside. Grabbing the 4th and final transfer spot in his B-Main, Dillard locked into the 23rd-starting position for the main event. With $5,000 on the line, Cade Dillard was an early retiree on lap 18 after folding the nose underneath his car.
