Cade Dillard grabs checkered flag in Wild West Shootout opener at Vado Speedway Park
Collects $2,000 Modified Victory
ROBELINE, La. (01/08/25) – Cade Dillard drove to his first win of the season this past weekend in Saturday’s Wild West Shootout opener at Vado Speedway Park aboard his S&S Fishing & Rental / Joel’s Auto Sales / Strength Roofing & Siding No. 97 CDR Race Cars Modified.
The four-time USRA Fall Nationals champ at the 3/8-mile oval capitalized on his inherited pole position, leading every lap of the 25-lap feature to secure the $2,000 winner’s payday.
“These CDR Race Cars are awesome here,” Dillard said. “I built up a good enough lead there early where I was able to get out front and just ride. This is a testament to how good these cars have been lately and the hard work we put into building them.”
Dillard’s double-duty weekend at Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park kicked off on Saturday with the opening round of the 19th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts.
With nearly 50 entries in both the Modified and Super Late Model divisions, Cade Dillard made an early statement by charging from sixth-to-first in his Modified heat race, earning a prime starting position for the feature. Inheriting the point after the pole-starting Paden Phillips swapped to a backup car, Cade led all 25 laps of the main event to capture the $2,000 top prize. He was joined by Dustin Sorensen and Kyle Strickler on the podium.
In his S&S Fishing & Rental No. 97 Late Model, Dillard followed up heat race triumph with a Top-5 outing in the $25,000-to-win opener. He notched a fourth-place finish behind Bobby Pierce, Garrett Alberson, and Brandon Sheppard with Tyler Erb coming in fifth.
Sunday night proved challenging for Dillard, as he struggled to find the same pace. Starting from 15th in the Modified feature, he finished 18th, and mechanical issues later forced him to retire early in the Super Late Model A-Main, resulting in a DNF.
