Dillard records a trio of top-10's in WoO World Finals at Charlotte
Cade Dillard returned to the driver’s seat of the Joel’s Auto Sales No. 97 Late Model over the weekend as the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series season wrapped up the with 17th running of the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.).
With a pair of time trial sessions on Wednesday setting the grid for heat races on Thursday and Friday, Dillard backed up the third-fastest lap in his first round with the eighth-quickest lap in the second session.
Starting on the front row of his heat race, Dillard raced into the redraw with an eight-lap victory. Receiving the fifth-starting position, Cade dropped three spots in the 35-lap opener to finish eighth.
For another round of prelims on Friday, Cade followed up a third-to-first run in his heat with a ninth-place finish in the A-Main.
On Saturday, Dillard outran fellow front-row starter Bobby Pierce in his heat race to pick up the victory. Pulling the pole position for the $25,000-to-win World of Outlaws World Finals finale, Cade set the pace for the opening 26 circuits but couldn’t repel a charging Ricky Thornton Jr. as he surrendered the lead on lap 27. He went onto place eighth in the 50-lap affair.
Cade finished 10th in the final World of Outlaw point standings.
